Barnacle Phil’s proudly serves locally grown food to our guests. Buying local in Southwest Florida supports the region’s rich fishing, farming and ranching traditions and gives our guests flavorful food. Buying local builds our community and reduces our carbon footprint.
Famous for our black beans and rice , we have supplemented the menu with fresh fruit from Pine Island, grass fed beef and organic vegetables from Punta Gorda, locally caught seafood and fresh salads. Our ice cream and sorbet are made by Queenies in Fort Myers: she has a dedicated local following.
Barnacle Phil’s is an iconic waterfront restaurant located in Safety Harbor on North Captiva Island. You may dine indoors or outdoors under the Chickee. We offer games for the entire family while you are waiting or kids can get fishing gear and bait dockside and drop a line.
The gift shop features souvenirs and locally made glassware, pottery, prints, photographs and island apparel. Buy a Barnacle Phil’s t-shirt, a cozie or a canvas bag to remember your visit. Make sure you have the sunscreen windshirt if you are heading out fishing. Ladies, find a sarong or a batik dress to wear on the beach while you are on “island time.” Guys, there is plenty of stuff for you as well. We have games and crafts for kids.
When you want to bike, kayak or go fishing, head to Bob’s Island Adventures. You will be fully outfitted for your activity.
If you decide, like we did, that North Captiva must be your piece of paradise, visit Chuck and Suzanne Brazik at Backwater Bay Real Estate.
Have fun!

Check out my uncle and aunt’s restaurant!
Thanks Molly! We are having fun!!!
Thanks to everyone who participated in Pepper Busting on North Captiva. We will have invasive species removed from our state park so that the native plants can flourish!
Molly is right!
It’s a great place and the chilli was hot, hot, hot!
What a find.
Looking forward to coming back and seeing the remodel! See you at Christmas time!
Looking forwar to seeing the new remodel. See you at Christmas time!
Watch out Phill!
Molly and Richard are on their way and they are mighty hungry.
My family is coming back down for our fourth trip in April. We were devastated to learn that the “Pirate’s Stash” ice cream parlor is no longer in operation. It was one of the kids’ highlights of the day to walk up the steps, yell “Aaargh” and get some ice cream. Is that North Cap tradition really dead?
Can you give the route from Ft Myers Beach by boat. What markers do we turn to enter the harbor?
Island Ice Cream is alive and well and living in paradise! Come on over when you arrive.
Coming from Fort Myers Beach you will cut in to the WNW at Marker 48.
Would love to see interior of past times with all the $dollar $ bills as interior focus.
We’ll be back this July. We haven’t been there since the remodel. Can’t wait!!!
I now live in Whitehorse Yukon. But I still model my black beans and rice after my months in Safety as I finished that now famous book. Love you B’s
